This week NTEU argued its lawsuit challenging the May 25 Executive Orders (EOs) issued by President Trump. On Wednesday afternoon, a federal judge heard arguments from NTEU and other federal unions in the combined lawsuit challenging the three EOs. NTEU General Counsel Greg O’Duden argued that portions of the EOs violate federal law.
U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is expected to issue a decision in the case in late August.
NTEU has been taking action in other areas. Tuesday, our members participated in our first-ever Tweet Your Elected Officials Day and sent hundreds of tweets to members of Congress. We continue to build a coalition of congressional allies who support rescinding the EOs.
Prior to the hearings, NTEU National President Tony Reardon spoke at a rally outside the courthouse to oppose the EOs and support federal workers. It was a proud moment to see so many unions, NTEU members and others united in the cause. A video of President Reardon's remarks is available on NTEU’s Facebook page, Twitter (@NTEUnews) and the EO page on NTEU National's web site.
