On April 6 we let you know about NTEU's win of retroactive transit subsidies benefits. There's been some confusion, however, due to a similar email from management on transit subsidy reimbursements unrelated to NTEU's victory.
There are two retroactive transit subsidies that are currently available to employees:
The NTEU-won retroactive transit subsidy for 2014, 2015, and January 2016. Employees fill out the survey referenced in the email sent by Labor and Employee Relations' Bob Coomber on April 4, 2018. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the actual expenses up to $250 for 2014 and 2015, and up to $255 for January 2016. The deadline for submitting the claims is May 7, 2018. After the claims are verified by the Agency, Employees will receive a check or direct deposit for their claim amount.
The other retroactive subsidy resulted from increasing the maximum transit subsidy amount to $260 for 2018. The agency is retroactively paying eligible employees $5 extra for the months of January, February, March, and April 2018. A maximum total of $20. This amount is supposed to be added to the employee’s SmartTrip card according to instructions sent by Randy Bacon.
Many employees are confusing these two subsidies. Look for an email from Bob Coomber for the first subsidy and an email from Randy Bacon for the second subsidy. Deadline for claiming the larger reimbursement referenced in the Coomber email is Monday, May 7, 2018.
